Leukaemia Appeal
The Foundation's first Appeal between 1998 and 2000 raised over £400,000 towards a new Leukaemia Unit within Elizabeth Lowry Ward, where patients are tested for cancer. Seven special rooms were built to provide patients with privacy and comfort during isolation, which can last up to ten weeks during acute treatment.
Building Blocks Appeal
In 2004 the new £1.6 million Lighthouse centre opened, thanks to the £500,000 raised by the Foundation’s Building Blocks Appeal.

The Healing Hearts Appeal was launched in 2003 to raise money for a state-of-the-art heart monitoring system. By 2005 more than £700,000 was raised for a system that was the first to be introduced in Europe and second in the World.
